Mt. Crested Butte

The town of Mount Crested Butte sits at 9,375 feet in elevation and is located 3 miles north of Crested Butte’s historic and picturesque downtown. It is home to Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and offers a wide range of home types and price points, from the resort style slopeside condos and hotels at the ski resort’s base area, to more secluded luxury homes in tranquil communities with expansive views of the surrounding mountains. A lot of the homes close to the ski resort enjoy true ski-in/ski-out access.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort has more than 1,100 acres of terrain ranging from beginner to expert, with 160 trails and 15 lifts. It is known for having some of the best lift-served extreme terrain in the U.S. Crested Butte Mountain Resort also operates two lifts in the summer for bikers to enjoy their downhill course, and there’s also the Adventure Park, which offers miniature golf, ziplining, a rock climbing wall, bungee trampolines, and a tubing hill.

The base area offers plenty of shopping and restaurants options, ranging from casual to more upscale. There’s always something going on in Mt. Crested Butte, from annual events like the Food & Wine Festival and the Chili and Beer Festival, to mountain bike and ski races and free live music in the summer months.

Besides skiing on the resort, Mount Crested Butte residents also enjoy recreational opportunities for backcountry skiing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter; and easy access to mountain biking and hiking trails in the summer, perfect to enjoy the burst of wildflowers that cover the hillsides in the warmer months.

There is a free shuttle that runs between Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte year-round, making it easy to travel up and down the mountain regardless of where you live or stay.
